Cass Scenic Railroad Bald Knob Excursion

  • This 22-mile, 4-hour round trip excursion takes you through the Appalachians, which become more and more beautiful as the train climbs higher and higher. By climbing 2,390 feet from Cass to Bald Knob, you’ll find yourself gazing out on the second highest point in West Virginia. The rustic overlook affords one of the most awesome, overwhelming spectacles in the east. A “King of the Road” hobo lunch will be provided as well.

New Tygart Flyer Train Excursion

  • This diesel-powered locomotive wilderness excursion features mountain grades, an “S” curve tunnel, and a high bridge with miles of unspoiled mountain views. The trip culminates at the High Falls of Cheat, an 18-foot-high, 150-foot-wide waterfall, located in one of the most remote and pristine settings in the region.

October 11 – Travel Day / Champaign, IL

Meet your Moostash Joe Tour Director and Driver at one of our many convenient pick-up points this morning and head east! Sit back, relax and enjoy the company of your fellow travelers today as we make our way to Champaign, IL where we enjoy Drury’s great “Kickback” – featuring complimentary food and drinks. (D)

October 12 – National Museum of the US Air Force / Wheeling, WV

Continue east today making a stop at the magnificent National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton. As the world’s largest military aviation museum, explore it’s more than 350 aerospace vehicles and missiles as well as its thousands of artifacts. This afternoon we travel to Wheeling, WV where we’ll be overnight and all enjoy an evening meal together inside the White Palace at Wheeling Park. (B, L, D) 

October 13 – Showshoe Mountain Resort

Today’s morning drive features the beginning of the gorgeous West Virginia mountain scenery! This afternoon finds us amongst the mountains at the Showshoe Mountain Resort, our home for the next three nights! (B, D)

October 14 – Bald Knob Train / Graceland Mansion

Our exciting train adventure begins aboard the Cass Scenic Railroad for it’s Bald Knob Excursion! This 22-mile, 4-hour round trip excursion takes you through the Appalachians, which become more and more beautiful as the train climbs higher and higher. October 15 – New Tygart Flyer Train / Gandy Dancer Theatre

This morning we visit the West Virginia Railroad Museum and Forest Activity Center before boarding the New Tygart Flyer! This diesel-powered locomotive wilderness excursion features mountain grades, an “S” curve tunnel, and a high bridge with miles of unspoiled mountain views. The trip culminates at the High Falls of Cheat, an 18-foot-high, 150-foot-wide waterfall, located in one of the most remote and pristine settings in the region. After some free time to explore in downtown Elkins, a special evening is planned at the Gandy Dancer Dinner Theatre! (B, L, D)

October 16 – Claudia Sanders Dinner House / Louisville, KY

Depart West Virginia this morning as we make our way back to the west. Early this evening we’ll stop for a meal at the Claudia Sanders Dinner House, carrying on the scratch-made traditions of founders Colonel Sanders and his wife, Claudia. (B, D)

October 17 – Louisville Slugger / Hannibal, MO

This morning we visit the must-see Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory in Louisville – where you don’t have to be a baseball fan to enjoy! Continue on through St. Louis towards Hannibal, MO – the home of Mark Twain. Enjoy an evening on the Mississippi River aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat, complete with a delicious evening meal and entertainment. (B, D)

October 18 – Return Home

Spend one last day reminiscing with your fellow travelers about your scenic and colorful stay in West Virginia! Say goodbye to your Moostash Joe Tour Director and Driver as you arrive back at your initial pick-up points this evening. (B)
