Day 1 – Welcome / Sikeston, MO
Welcome to your Moostash Joe Tour! Meet us at one of our many convenient pick up points and begin to make our way south. Our travels today take us to Sikeston, MO where we’re overnight and all enjoy an evening meal together at Lambert’s Cafe – Home of Throwed Rolls! (D)
Day 2 – New Orleans, LA / Steamboat Natchez Dinner Cruise
Continue south today on I-55, passing by Lake Pontchartrain later this afternoon and arriving in the “Big Easy” – New Orleans shortly thereafter! Considered one of the most unique cities in the world, New Orleans is known for its distinct music, Creole cuisine and vibrant nightlife! We check-in for our four-night stay at the centrally located Drury Plaza Hotel, just four blocks from the French Quarter, and relax and enjoy Drury’s great “Kickback” – where complimentary food and drinks are available. Then we head out for the authentic Steamboat Natchez Dinner Cruise! Become acquainted with New Orleans with great skyline views, delicious food and toe-tapping jazz music all while enjoying your night on the graceful current of the Mississippi River. (B, D)
Day 3 – New Orleans City & Cemetery Tour / Mardi Gras World
A full day of sightseeing in New Orleans await! This morning we meet our local, step-on guide for a guided city tour including a stop at St. Louis Cemetery. Here we learn why burials are above ground and why they are commonly known as “cities of the dead.” Throughout our tour, we’ll also discuss the devastation and rebuilding efforts since Hurricane Katrina, as well as New Orleans’ must-see sights. Then we head over to the Historic French Market, also known as “America’s Oldest Public Market,” where we enjoy free time to explore and dine at one of it’s many unique cafes. This afternoon finds us at Vue Orleans, the new one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor observation deck and cultural exhibit featuring spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of New Orleans and the surrounding area. Our next stop is at Mardi Gras World to see the continuous building of colorful Mardi Gras floats for the famed New Orleans parade. We finish the day in the heart of the French Quarter at the Court of Two Sisters to enjoy a Creole-style dinner together. (B, D)
Day 4 – New Orleans School of Cooking / National WWII Museum
Another great day in New Orleans starts with a walking tour of the French Quarter, followed by lunch at the New Orleans School of Cooking – taught by an expert chef in the traditions of Cajun and Creole cuisine. Don’t worry, only eating and having fun is required of you here. This afternoon is spent at the incredible National WWII Museum, voted one of the best museums in the world. Our visit also includes the 4D Beyond All Boundaries film. Back at the Drury Inn & Suites, you are able to enjoy the “Kickback” – where complimentary food and drinks are available as well as another opportunity to head down to the French Quarter and Bourbon Street! Day 5 – Swamp Tour / Houma’s House Plantation
This morning we head outside the city to the swamp for our Swamp Tour – a real life adventure! Completely narrated by a swamp expert, our boat tour views native plants, alligators and other swamp life. Then we visit the Houma’s House Plantation and Gardens to experience the southern splendor of this grand antebellum estate. Back in New Orleans our day comes to and end at Mulate’s Cajun Restaurant for dinner and dancing, and one last night in The Big Easy! (B, L, D)
Day 6 – Travel Day / Sikeston, MO
Today we start to make our way back enjoying the company of our fellow travelers and arriving this evening in Sikeston, MO and a chance to relax and enjoy Drury’s “Kickback” – where complimentary food and drinks are available. (B, D)
Day 7 – Return Home
Return home with many memories, souvenirs and fun experiences from your tour to New Orleans! Say goodbye to everyone as you arrive back at your initial pick-up points. (B)
