Rocky Mountain National Park – Truly one of America’s natural treasures, the trip across the Trail Ridge Road reaches an elevation of over 12,000 feet and features dramatic scenery throughout. We’ll take stops for the best photos and to explore Alpine Visitor Center at the top.

Colorado National Monument – This splendid park just southwest of Grand Junction gives testimony to the amazing results of erosion…here are rounded domes and towering monoliths surrounded by the vertical walls of deep canyons. The 23-mile-long Rim Rock Drive here is unquestionably among the premier scenic drives in the American West.

Canyonlands National Park – This expansive wilderness of countless canyons and fantastically formed buttes was carved by the Colorado River and its tributaries. Here, we’ll explore the awesome Island in the Sky District, including Upheaval Dome and Grand View Point, plus, an opportunity to take a short hike to view the canyons through the “window” of Mesa Arch.

Arches National Park – We’ll spend an afternoon in this great park among red sandstone eroded by wind, water and time into massive arches, windows, spires, and pinnacles…the world’s largest collection of natural stone arches. Double Arch, Skyline Arch, and the viewpoint beneath renowned Delicate Arch are all along our route.

Capitol Reef National Park – This beautiful park is known for its white sandstone “Capitol Dome” and other rock formations which cap massive reef-like cliffs. The Capitol Gorge Scenic Drive, Gifford Homestead Museum and sweeping panoramic views are sure to delight.

Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument – We’ll follow Utah’s incredible Highway 12 Scenic Byway, one of the nation’s finest scenic drives, winding through alpine mountains, spectacular canyons and colorful rock formations, including the Escalante Canyons as we enter this magnificent national monument, created by presidential proclamation in 1996.

Bryce Canyon National Park – We’re sure to appreciate the famed “Pink Cliffs” of awesome Bryce Canyon National Park, where vividly-colored rock forms castles, temples, even whole cities sculptured in stone. We’ll experience the park’s wonders from such scenic overlooks as Rainbow, Farview, Bryce and Inspiration Points.

Zion National Park – Here the Virgin River has cut a dramatic rugged gorge through multi-hued sandstone, shale and limestone. From the floor of the canyon we’ll look up at the towering rock walls surrounding us on all sides as we tour aboard open-air sightseeing trams, complete with narration. Massive “slickrock” formations and the historic Zion Tunnel are also on our itinerary.

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Lake Powell Navajo Canyon Adventure Cruise – Near Page, we’ll board our cruise boat for an unforgettable “Canyons Adventure” excursion through Glen Canyon on sky-blue Lake Powell. 

Grand Canyon National Park – Truly among the world’s greatest spectacles, nothing approaches the awe inspired by this gaping chasm, about one mile deep and ten miles wide. We’ll travel to the park’s South Rim and enjoy a full-day tour with our local, step-on guide with opportunities for the best photos and free time to explore Grand Canyon Village. 

Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park and Jeep Tour – Here we’ll enjoy a traditional Navajo lunch before boarding our four-wheel-drive vehicles driven by expert native guides for a closer look at Monument Valley’s famous towers of sandstone formations along a desert mesa with incredible panoramic views. 

Mesa Verde National Park – This magnificent park contains some of the largest and most well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings in existence. Some 600 structures scattered among nearly 5,000 archaeological sites have been sheltered for centuries in alcoves eroded in the rock walls. Our guided tour will reveal such fine examples as the Spruce Tree House, Cliff Palace, Sun Temple, and Square Tower House.

Great Sand Dunes National Park – One of America’s newest national parks, adjacent to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We’ll explore some of the 30 square miles of awe-inspiring, shifting dunes protected here, some over 700 feet in height, the tallest in North America.

September 9 – Welcome / Cheyenne, WY

Welcome to your Moostash Joe Tour! Today we begin our travels west, where we’ll be overnight in Cheyenne, WY and enjoy a welcome dinner together. (D)

September 10 – Rocky Mountain National Park

This morning takes us through Big Thompson Canyon en route to Rocky Mountain National Park! Truly one of America’s natural treasures, we traverse Trail Ridge Road, reaching an elevation of over 12,000 feet driving past dramatic scenery throughout. We’ll take stops for the best photos and to explore Alpine Visitor Center at the top. Our day finishes in Keystone, CO where you’ll have the evening to spend at your leisure. (B)

September 11 – Colorado National Monument / Canyonlands by Night Jet Boat Trip

Our exciting day begins with a scenic drive through the Rockies past some of Colorado’s renowned skiing areas as we continue west. This afternoon is spent on the 23-mile-long Rim Rock Drive at Colorado National Monument. This splendid park gives testimony to the amazing results of erosion. Here we see rounded domes and towering monoliths surrounded by vertical canyon walls and is unquestionably among the premier scenic drives in the American West. Then, a special evening is planned on our Canyonlands by Night Jet Boat Trip! A cowboy-style Dutch oven dinner precedes our evening boat ride on the Colorado River. The Canyonlands area is unlike any other in the world, making this boat ride one of the most outstanding events you’ll experience. (B, D)

September 12 – Canyonlands National Park / Arches National Park

Today we explore the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. This expansive wilderness of countless canyons and fantastically formed buttes was carved by the Colorado River and its tributaries. Gaze out over Grand View Point along with an opportunity to take a short hike to view the canyons through the “window” of Mesa Arch. Enjoy a picnic lunch and cliff-side views at nearby Dead Horse Point State Park before spending the afternoon in Arches National Park. Eroded by wind, water and time, this wonderland of red-rock features windows, spires, pinnacles and the world’s largest collection of natural stone arches. This evening is free for you to enjoy Moab, UT on your own. (B, L)

September 13 – Capitol Reef National Park

After a leisurely morning, we leave the red-rock of Canyonlands and Arches to the renowned white sandstone of Capitol Reef National Park. We take the Capital Gorge scenic drive along cliffs, canyons, domes and bridges along with a stop at the Gifford Homestead for a look into life on the farm in the early 1900’s and to browse their local handmade items and baked goods! We’ll be overnight in Torrey, UT where we also enjoy an evening meal together. (B, D)

September 14 – UT-12 / Bryce Canyon National Park

This morning we travel Utah’s incredible scenic Highway 12 through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, winding through alpine mountains, spectacular canyons, colorful rock formations and experience first-hand why a portion of this road is named “The Hogback.” Our afternoon is spent at Bryce Canyon National Park, known for the largest concentration of “hoodoos” anywhere in the world. These colorful, irregularly eroded spires of rock are sure to amaze. (B, D)

September 15 – Zion National Park / Coral Pink Sand Dunes 

We head to nearby Zion National Park for a half-day trip to Utah’s first National Park. Here we experience the wilderness and life in a narrow slot canyon, where the Virgin River has cut a dramatic rugged gorge through multi-hued sandstone, shale and limestone. From the floor of the canyon, we’ll look up at the towering rock walls surrounding us on all sides. We then stop to visit Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park with an opportunity to venture onto a shifting sea of red sand, constantly changing by winds. Our evening is back in Kanab to enjoy Little Hollywood’s Chuckwagon Cookout. (B, D)

September 16 – Glen Canyon National Recreation Area / Lake Powell Cruise

Today we explore Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on our Lake Powell Cruise! An unforgettable excursion awaits near Page, AZ on sky-blue Lake Powell, we’ll cruise through Navajo Canyon, offering some of the most breathtaking views on the lake. Don’t forget your camera! This evening, settle in to our two-night stay at Red Feather Lodge, just outside of Grand Canyon National Park, where we also enjoy an evening meal together. (B, D)

September 17 – Grand Canyon National Park

An incredible opportunity awaits today during our full-day step-on guided tour of Grand Canyon National Park! Truly among the world’s greatest spectacles, nothing approaches the awe inspired by this must-see gaping chasm. Our local guide will be with us the entire day, sharing historical and environmental information while giving us opportunities for the best photos along with free time to explore Grand Canyon Village. Back at Red Feather Lodge this evening, share thoughts and memories of your day over dinner in the restaurant. (B, D)

September 18 – Monument Valley Jeep Tour and Navajo Lunch

Today we make our way to Monument Valley where we enjoy a traditional Navajo lunch before boarding our four-wheel-drive vehicles driven by expert native guides for a closer look at Monument Valley’s famous towers of sandstone formations and the areas spectacular viewpoints and iconic vistas. This evening is free for you to spend at your leisure at our overnight accommodations in Cortez in the far southwest corner of Colorado. (B, L)

September 19 – Mesa Verde National Park

This morning we enjoy a guided tour through magnificent Mesa Verde National Park, containing some of the largest and most well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings in existence. After your tour, enjoy lunch at Far View Cafe inside the park before continuing east to Alamosa, CO. (B, L)

September 20 – Great Sand Dunes National Park

This morning discover North America’s tallest dunes at Great Sand Dunes National Park. These 700 foot tall dunes are the centerpiece in a diverse landscape of grasslands, wetlands, conifer and aspen forests, alpine lakes and tundra. Continue east to Fort Morgan, CO, where we’ll be overnight and enjoy each others company for one last night during our farewell dinner. (B, D)

September 21 – Return Home

Return home today inspired by our nation’s wonderful National Parks. Say goodbye to your fellow travelers, Moostash Joe Tour Director and Driver as you arrive back at your initial pick-up points. (B)
