Day 1 – Greater Des Moines Botanical Gardens / Quad Cities

Welcome to your Moostash Joe Tour! Meet your Tour Director, Driver and fellow travelers at one of our many convenient pick-up points. Later this morning we stop to visit the Greater Des Moines Botanical Gardens to explore their vibrant, seven-acre public garden. Later this afternoon we arrive in the Quad Cities and enjoy an evening meal together at a local favorite restaurant. (D)

Day 2 – Aboard the Riverboat “Twilight” / Dubuque, IA

Check out and make your way to nearby LeClaire, IA and the elegant Riverboat “Twilight!” Upon boarding, grab a cup of coffee and a snack and find the perfect seat for today’s cruise up the Mississippi River! Our two-day cruise is completely narrated by the Captain. Keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles, large flocks of pelicans and other river wildlife along the picturesque banks of the Mississippi. Lunch, dinner and frequent snacks are also included on board, as well as live entertainment and various on-board activities. But, for those that want to sit and watch the water go by, there is no better place than on the outer deck in one of the comfortable rocking chairs. We’ll also travel through Lock and Dam 12 and 13 en route to Dubuque, where we head off the Twilight and spend the night at the Grand Harbor Resort, right along the Mississippi. (B, L, D)

Day 3 – Dubuque, IA / Aboard the Riverboat “Twilight”

Start your day with breakfast at the resort and the rest of your morning exploring Dubuque’s history, unique architecture and other attractions. Admission is also included to the must-see, Smithsonian-accredited National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. We re-board the Twilight before noon for our return journey down river. Once again you’ll be able to take in the sights and listen to the Captain’s narration the entire afternoon. After dinner, the boat docks back in LeClaire and we make our way back to our nearby accommodations for the evening. (B, L, D)

Day 4 – Amana Colonies / Return Home

On our way back home, we’ll stop in Iowa’s quaint Amana Colonies for time to shop, dine and explore. Then, say goodbye to your fellow travelers as you arrive back at your initial pick-up points late this afternoon and evening with many great memories of your Mississippi River Cruise! (B)
