Day 1 – Travel Day / Elkhart, IN
Meet your Moostash Joe Tour Director and Driver at one of our many convenient pick-up points and head east! Our travel day takes us to Elkhart, IN, where you’ll have the evening to spend at your leisure.
Day 2 – Frankenmuth, MI
Willkommen to Frankenmuth – otherwise known as Michigan’s Little Bavaria! Upon arrival, you’ll think you were transported to a different time and country as you’re greeted by flower pot-lined streets, eclectic shops and the city’s unique architecture. A great, authentic, home-cooked German lunch will be at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant, famous for their chicken and family-style portions. This afternoon’s activities begin with a tour of beautiful St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, followed by plenty of time at Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland – the World’s Largest Christmas Store! Get your Christmas shopping done early or simply wander and take in the sights, sounds and spirit of this amazing store, which is the size of one and a half football fields! This evening is yours to enjoy your great downtown location as you have the opportunity to explore this quaint, Bavarian town in central Michigan on your own. (B, L)
Day 3 – Mackinac Island / Mission Point Resort
Continue north this morning and across the Mackinac Bridge, spanning Lake Michigan and Lake Huron and arrive at the dock for our Mackinac Island Ferry. Enjoy your 30 minute ferry ride, featuring great views of the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island. Upon arrival, our “taxi” will be waiting to take us up to the Grand Hotel! Mackinac Island is no ordinary island. Listed as a National Historic Landmark with a ban on all motor vehicles, this picturesque island is sure to leave feelings of nostalgia with its many bikes, old-time feel and charming shops. Our lunch buffet at the Grand Hotel is one you won’t soon forget, but don’t miss the dessert bar! Later, we meet our very own horse and carriage for a guided tour of the island, including unique commentary and the island’s must-see stops. The tour ends on Main Street, where you’ll have the remainder of the day to do whatever you like! Shop for the perfect gift, try the island’s renowned fudge, enjoy an evening meal from a quaint cafe or stroll the waterfront! Tonight’s accommodations are at the fabulous Mission Point Resort, voted one of the top resort hotels in the Midwest and sits right on the shores of Mackinac Island! Spanning 18 acres, Mission Point creates an unparalleled setting to savor life’s simple pleasures. (B, L)
Day 4 – Mackinac Island
Located on Mackinac Island’s sunrise side, Mission Point Resort is the PERFECT spot to watch the sun seemingly emerge from Lake Huron. Whether its from the large porch or from the resort’s many Adirondack chairs on The Great Lawn, make sure you’re up before dawn. Enjoy the island’s renowned peace and relaxation with the entire day to spend at your leisure! Choose to bike the islands stunning 8-mile coastline, take advantage of the many resort amenities, shop your way through nostalgic Main Street or just sit and relax and take in the island’s beauty. Day 5 – Mackinac Island / Green Bay, WI
Enjoy another morning to take in lovely Mackinac Island before returning back to the mainland. Then, continue through the Upper Peninsula enjoying great coastal views of Lake Michigan en route to Green Bay, WI where we’ll be overnight. (B)
Day 6 – Door County, WI
If you haven’t already been, Door County, Wisconsin is soon to be one of your favorites! Door County is on the peninsula between Green Bay to the west and Lake Michigan to the east and features 300 miles of shoreline, rocky bluffs and sandy beaches, lovely little communities and an abundance of fresh roadside markets. Our step-on guide will take us around as one of the locals, making a variety of stops before our lunch and authentic Fish Boil in Fish Creek at Pelletier’s, a must when in Door County. Enjoy some free time in Fish Creek before making our way south and finishing our day in Fond du Lac, WI and an evening meal at our hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 7 – Amana Colonies / Return Home
Spend one last day reminiscing with your fellow travelers and newly made friends! We’ll make a stop for a chance to enjoy lunch, shop or stroll in Main Amana on your own before making our way back to your initial pick-up points with fond memories of your tour to authentic Frankenmuth, wonderful Door County and charming Mackinac Island!
