Welcome to your Moostash Joe Tour! Travel today through Iowa, Illinois and to Elkhart, IN, where we’ll be overnight and an opportunity for you to enjoy the evening at your leisure.
September 12 – Cleveland, OH / Lake Erie Sunset Dinner Cruise
We acquaint ourselves with Cleveland, OH early this afternoon on our local, step-on guided city tour. Learn about the city’s storied history of manufacturing and see their numerous steps toward revitalizing their lakefront and downtown area. This evening, in Erie, PA, relax and enjoy a Lake Erie Sunset Dinner Cruise aboard The Victorian Princess – Erie’s only authentic paddle wheeler! (B, D)
September 13 – Corning Museum of Glass / Catskill Mountains
Today’s drive takes us through the beautiful Catskill Mountains en route to Poughkeepsie, NY, our home for the night. On our way, we stop at the spectacular Corning Museum of Glass to explore the world’s most comprehensive collection of glass and witness one of their live, narrated glassworking demonstrations. (B)
September 14 – FDR Museum & Library / Breakers Mansion
This morning we head to tour the nearby Franklin D. Roosevelt Museum & Library. The museum features special exhibits and rarely seen artifacts telling the story of the 32nd president of the United States. Later this afternoon finds us at the Newport Mansions, specifically the Breakers Mansion, where we tour the grandest of the Newport’s summer “cottages” and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family’s social and financial preeminence. Tonight’s one-night stay is in Rhode Island – otherwise known as “The Ocean State” where we’ll also enjoy an evening meal together. (B, D)
September 15 – Cape Cod / Lobster Dinner
Today takes us to Massachusetts, where we meet our local guide in Plymouth – otherwise known as America’s Hometown. A picture stop will be made at the Forefather’s Monument, the largest solid granite monument in the United States. We’ll also stop at Plymouth Rock and view the newly restored Mayflower II, a reproduction of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to the New World. Then we travel over the Cape Cod Canal into Sandwich, the oldest town on Cape Cod. Here we view Village Green, the Great Salt Marsh, a Cranberry Bog and Cape Cod Bay. Onto Mid-Cape for a guided tour of Hyannis including the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Hyannisport and a view of St. Francis Xavier Church, the summer parish of the Kennedy Family. Tonight is our fresh lobster dinner! September 16 – Provincetown / Whale Watching Excursion
An exciting day awaits! Our first stop is the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor Center. San dunes and the ocean surround you as you approach “Land’s End” – Provincetown – the extreme tip of Cape Cod. This afternoon we’ll board our excursion vessel for an amazing experience of Whale Watching! Travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment. Try to spot Humpback, Minke and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions about whales, birds, fish and lighthouses. Another option is available for those wishing to stay on dry land. (B, D)
September 17 – Martha’s Vineyard
Today we meet our local guide and travel to Woods Hole. Home to the center of discovery of the HMS Titanic, the world renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the national headquarters of the International Wildlife Coalition. Then we board our ferry to the island of Martha’s Vineyard, where we enjoy a tour of its historic and picturesque villages. There will be free time for lunch in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. Complete the day on the island in Oak Bluffs strolling through Cottage City with its brightly painted cottages and decorative “gingerbread” trim. (B, D)
September 18 – United States Military Academy / Scranton, PA
Say goodbye to beautiful Cape Cod this morning as we start to make our way west. In the afternoon we take a guided tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point. This 90 minute tour will offer unique insight into life as a Cadet at the Academy. Continue to Scranton, PA – where we’ll be overnight. (B)
September 19 – Steamtown National Historic Site / Cleveland, OH
This morning we visit amazing Steamtown National Historic Site – a must when in Scranton – where we discover how steam railroading helped shape our nation’s history and culture. Then continue west through the beautiful rolling hills of Pennsylvania. We’ll make a stop to grab a bite to eat on our own before arriving in the Cleveland suburbs early this evening with the rest of the day to spend at your leisure. (B)
September 20 – Princeton, IL
Continue west today, stopping to enjoy lunch together before finishing our day in Princeton, IL where we’ll be overnight. (B, L)
September 21 – Return Home
Spend one last day with your fellow travelers and newly made friends as you return home with special memories of your tour to beautiful Cape Cod! Say goodbye as you return to your initial pick-up points this evening. (B)
