Day 1 – Ole’s Big Game Steakhouse / Westminster
Welcome to your Moostash Joe Tour! Meet us at one of our many convenient pick-up points and depart for Denver! Enjoy lunch amidst dozens of big-game trophies in the unique atmosphere of Ole’s Big Game Steakhouse in Paxton, NE. Early this evening, arrive and check-in to the Drury Inn & Suites and enjoy Drury’s great “Kickback” – where complimentary food and drinks are available. (L, D)
Day 2 – Rocky Mountain National Park / Trail Ridge Road
Begin your beautiful drive north toward Rocky Mountain National Park. There, take the famed Trail Ridge Road as you climb to over 12,000 feet! You’ll enjoy spectacular views, breathtaking scenery and an abundance of wildlife this entire morning before spending some time at the top at Alpine Visitor Center. This afternoon, make your way down the mountaintops to Keystone, CO where your evening is on your own to explore and enjoy dinner on your own. (B)
Day 3 – Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad
Our train adventure officially begins today as we travel to historic Leadville to board the Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad! This two and a half hour round trip journey, including a boxed lunch, is full of breathtaking panoramas across the Arkansas River Valley, as well as humorous narratives about the mining and railroading city of Leadville, Colorado. As you travel north, the railroad raises up 1,000 feet off the valley floor giving spectacular views of the two tallest peaks in Colorado, Mt. Massive and Mt. Elbert. Views continue on our afternoon drive to the beautiful Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains. (B, L)
Day 4 – Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
This morning it’s off to Silverton, where we board the remarkable Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, voted the number one North American Train Trip! This historic train, in continuous operation since 1882, takes you on a ride of a lifetime. Sit behind this vintage steam locomotive while gazing out at pure Colorado mountain splendor, completely inaccessible by highway. Upon arrival in Durango, enjoy dinner and free time in downtown Durango. (B)
Day 5 – Mesa Verde National Park
Today we enjoy Mesa Verde National Park, the land of the ancient Pueblo Indians. Our very own step-on guide will take us around the park, winding past archaeological sites and overlooks. After your tour, enjoy lunch at Far View Cafe inside the park before returning to Durango. A special evening is planned as we head out for great food and entertainment at the Bar D Chuckwagon! Day 6 – Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad
This morning depart for Chama, New Mexico and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. This 64-mile one-way journey through Rocky Mountain splendor is one you’ll never forget! This coal-fired steam engine train takes you through steep mountain canyons, high desert and lush meadows, zig-zagging the Colorado/New Mexico border. A lunch is also provided half-way through at Osier Station. Upon arrival in Antonito, Colorado, make the short drive to Alamosa, Colorado where we’ll be overnight with an evening to spend as you wish. (B, L)
Day 7 – Royal Gorge Route Railroad
Today’s train adventure takes you straight through the spectacular Royal Gorge on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. This 12-mile scenic journey takes you along what is considered to be the most famed portion of the former Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. Your deluxe tickets also include lunch on-board and access to the open-air car, featuring second-to-none views from the bottom of Royal Gorge along the Arkansas River. After you arrive back at the depot, depart for Colorado Springs and your two-night stay at the Drury Inn & Suites, where you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the Drury Inn Kickback, where food and drinks are available. Day 8 – Pikes Peak Cog Railway / Garden of the Gods
An exciting morning awaits! Hop on the recently renovated Pikes Peak Cog Railway as you climb your way up Pikes Peak! This extraordinary ride passes incredible vistas and mountain scenery before you summit this famed 14,000 foot giant! Truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Back below, spend time for lunch and free time in the quaint Colorado town of Manitou Springs, before our visit to the Garden of the Gods. Here, we’ll enjoy a step-on guided tour of this beautiful park and free time in the Visitor Center. Spend this evening sharing memories with your fellow passengers at Front Range BBQ, our Farewell Dinner. (B, D)
Day 9 – Return Home
Following breakfast we say goodbye to Colorado and its many adventures! Enjoy lunch on your own in North Platte before saying goodbye to your tour director, driver and fellow passengers as you arrive back at your pick-up point early this evening. (B)
