Day 1 – Depart Omaha / Arrive in Anchorage, AK
Welcome to your Moostash Joe Tour! Today, meet us at one of our pick-up points as we make our way to Omaha’s Eppley Airfield and connect to our flight to Anchorage, Alaska – Alaska’s largest city. Upon arrival, you will be met by your Local Tour Director and be transferred to your hotel in downtown Anchorage.
Day 2 – Worthington Glacier / Valdez, AK
After breakfast we board our private deluxe motorcoach for our scenic drive to Valdez, AK. Drive through the Matanuska Susitna Valley, where world record monster size vegetables grow in the 24-hour daylight, and stop by Worthington Glacier for a look at this gigantic piece of ice. Arrive in the charming yet very important port town of Valdez in the early evening, also known as Alaska’s Little Switzerland and enjoy free time at your leisure. (B)
Day 3 – Glacier and Wildlife Cruise
Enjoy breakfast and time in the morning to spend exploring the quaint community of Valdez with included entrance to the Valdez Museum. This extensive city museum takes you through the many collections of artifacts, textiles, photographs and documents that trace the community’s fascinating history. Later, board your glacier and wildlife cruise and travel through the majestic Prince William Sound. Explore the three-mile face of the mighty Columbia Glacier and hear tales of the region as told by the Alaskan crew. Keep your eyes open for seals, sea lions, otters, whales, bald eagles and puffins throughout this half-day exploration cruise with lunch included on the boat. Overnight again in Valdez. (B, L)
Day 4 – Wrangell-St. Elias National Park / Fairbanks
After breakfast we head for our journey north to the largest city in the interior, Fairbanks, also known to Alaskans as the Golden Heart City. The route takes you along Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest park in the United States as well as the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Arrive in Fairbanks for your two-night stay early this evening. Day 5 – Fairbanks / Chena River Cruise / Alaska Salmon Bake
Enjoy breakfast and a morning Fairbanks City Tour featuring the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center, the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and Santa Claus’ House located in North Pole – where every day is Christmas! This afternoon enjoy a Chena River Cruise aboard a sternwheeler and experience the thrill of river travel. A special evening is planned as we enjoy a dinner and show at the Alaska Salmon Bake! (B, D)
Day 6 – Iditarod Musher Kennel Tour / Denali National Park
This morning enjoy the scenic drive towards Denali National Park, home to six million acres of pristine wilderness and Denali, the highest mountain in North America at 20,310 feet! Situated in the central area of the Alaskan Range, Denali National Park boasts an incredible density of wildlife and natural beauty. This afternoon, enjoy a visit to the kennel of an Iditarod Musher at DogGoneIt Kennel Tours. Learn all about the history of the Last Great Race and the life and art of mushing. Later today, arrive and check-in for our two-night stay just outside of Denali National Park. (B)
Day 7 – Tundra Wilderness Tour
After breakfast, travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour and search the vast wilderness for bear, moose, caribou and Dall sheep. This six to eight hour journey which includes a snack on the bus is completely narrated allowing for insight into the animals, flora and fauna of this spectacular region and offers an incredible and diverse experience for park visitors. Day 8 – Dome Rail Car Lunch on Rails / Depart Anchorage
After breakfast, head to the Denali Rail Depot and board your Deluxe Dome Rails Car for your scenic transfer to the quaint community of Talkeetna, Alaska with a delicious “lunch on the rails.” Then, meet back with your deluxe motorcoach and continue to Anchorage where we’ll enjoy one more meal together before saying goodbye to your local Tour Director back at Anchorage Airport for our overnight flight back to the lower 48. Day 9 – Return Home
Today our journey comes to an end as we return back to Omaha. Say goodbye to your newly made friends with many great memories of your spectacular Alaskan adventure as you arrive back at your initial pick-up points.
