March 29 – Travel Day / Champaign, IL

Meet your Moostash Joe Tour Director and Driver at one of our many convenient pick-up points this morning and head east! Sit back, relax and enjoy the company of your fellow travelers today as we make our way to Champaign, IL where we check-in to the Drury Inn & Suites and enjoy Drury’s great “Kickback” – where food and drinks are available. (D)

March 30 – Indianapolis Motor Speedway / Wheeling, WV

Our morning stop will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and an opportunity to “Kiss the Bricks!” (depending on track availability). Home to the Indianapolis 500, the speedway is one of the most iconic venues in all of sports. We continue on to Wheeling, WV where we’ll be overnight and all enjoy an evening meal together inside the White Palace at Wheeling Park. (B, D) 

March 31 – Gettysburg, PA

This morning we drive through the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside on our way to Gettysburg. Upon arrival, we’ll visit the Gettysburg Museum/Visitor Center for one of the world’s largest collections of artifacts from the American Civil War and an opportunity to see the film “A New Birth of Freedom.” Then, see the Cyclorama Center at Gettysburg National Military Park for a breath-taking panorama of Picketts charge. We’ll meet our local, Battlefield Guide for a step-on guided tour of America’s largest Civil War Battlefield, containing more than 40 miles of scenic avenues and over 1600 monuments and cannons in memory of those who fought and died here. After our tour we continue to the D.C. Metro where we’ll spend the next four nights and enjoy an evening meal together. (B, D)

April 1 – United States Capitol / Washington National Cathedral

A day full of activities begins at The People’s House: A White House Experience, the new interactive museum experience offering an immersive look at the White House and it’s history. We won’t miss a photo opportunity of the President’s iconic home. Then it’s off to the United States Capitol Building, the most recognized symbol of democratic government in the world and home to Congress since 1800, where we enjoy a guided tour. Later we visit the iconic Washington National Cathedral. Standing higher than the Washington Monument, it is the sixth largest church in the world. This 14-Century-style Gothic wonder is situated on 57 acres and took 83 years to build. (B, D) 

April 2 – Arlington National Cemetery / Mount Vernon

Another full day begins at sacred Arlington National Cemetery. This 612 acre cemetery is the final resting place for President John F. Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and thousands of soldiers from every major U.S. war, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the hourly Changing of the Guard. This afternoon finds us at Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington. Mount Vernon sits on a grassy, shaded slope overlooking the Potomac River and America’s most visited historic house. We’ll see the inside of the Mansion as well as the Ford Orientation Center on the grounds. Enjoy dinner together at a local restaurant before our evening Illuminated Monument Driving Tour. A must for any visitor, we’ll view the Marine Corps Memorial, Air Force Memorial, Washington Monument, National WWII Memorial and others as time permits, as well as a walk-through of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. April 3 – Museum of the Bible / National Mall

This morning we’ll visit the Museum of the Bible, home to one of the world’s largest private collections of biblical objects and artifacts. This afternoon we come together to visit the National Museum of American History. This state-of-the-art gallery is a must, and offers a taste of true Americana. Later this afternoon we stop at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. Our final night in the D.C. area is spent together over dinner before returning to our hotel for a good nights rest. (B, D)

April 4 – Colonial Williamsburg / Jamestown Settlement

Our local step-on guide takes us around Colonial Williamsburg this morning, including the Capitol and Governor’s Palace. The Capitol is where Virginia patriots developed principles of self-government, individual liberty and responsible leadership. Enjoy some free time in Colonial Williamsburg before our afternoon guided tour of Jamestown Settlement. Jamestown Settlement commemorates the first permanent English settlement in the New World and features full-size replicas of three ships that arrived in 1607. We’ll also enjoy an evening meal together after settling in for our one-night stay in Williamsburg. (B, D) 

April 5 – Monticello / Historic Michie Tavern

Today we visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the famed plantation home of President Thomas Jefferson. We’ll tour the home, a remarkable integration of classical architecture and modern innovation, designed by Jefferson, and built on the mountain top where he had played as a boy. Lunch is at Historic Michie Tavern, one of the oldest homesteads remaining in Virginia giving us a glimpse of 18th-century life. Our day concludes in Charleston, WV where we’ll be overnight. (B, L)

April 6 – Kentucky Derby Museum / St. Louis Metro

Our travels today take us through Louisville, KY and the Kentucky Derby Museum. Adjacent from legendary Churchill Downs, explore its interactive exhibits and watch the film telling the story of “The Greatest Race.” Continue to the St. Louis Metro where we’ll be overnight and relax and enjoy the Drury Inn “Kickback” – where complimentary food and drinks are available. April 7 – Return Home

Spend one last day reminiscing with your fellow travelers about your educational, historic and exciting tour to Washington, D.C.! Say goodbye to your Moostash Joe Tour Director and Driver as you arrive back at your initial pick-up points this evening. (B)

Important Note: While in Washington, D.C. and possibly other locations on this tour, your bags may be searched. We recommend removing all sharp objects or potentially hazardous materials ahead of time. You will also need to have a photo I.D. readily available. 

Important Note: Getting around Washington, D.C. and its museums does require some moderate physical activity. Please be prepared for walking up to a few blocks at a time throughout the tour.
